The next Heartland special edition has been announced! Its called A Summer to Remember and is due out 1st May 2008 in the USA (still no known release date for it in the UK - or for A Winter's Gift for that matter!). Heres the link to it on amazon.com: www.amazon.com/Summer-Remember-Heartland-Lauren-Brooke/dp/0545048907/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1195701571&sr=1-12And here's the description of it taken from that page: After her sophomore year at college, Amy receives an urgent request to help a troubled horse. She is whisked off to the Hamptons to meet Alfredo Escobar, whose Argentinean family is renowned for their involvement in exclusive polo circuits. The Escobars expect nothing but the best - from both their ponies and their riders. But Alfredo's pony, Impala, has been giving him problems. If Alfredo can't learn to work with her they may both be in for trouble. It's up to Amy to find the key to mending this relationship and to help Alfredo meet his family's tremendous expectations. Doesn't sound like there will be a lot of Heartland itself in this one again. Here's hoping the characters are much more themselves in it though! Lol, one can dream I guess.

I knew about this one, read about it like a month ago but kept on forgetting to post something about it. But it does sound like there will not be much Heartland, and i also hoe they are more like themselfs.

Oh dear, not again... I'm sorry, but Always There was supposed to be the end of the series, was it not? "A Summer to Remember" sounds like the description of one of the French books...not that I speak French, LOL, but I could just pick out some of the words. Is this Escobar pasta-sauce dude old or young? Does it say? I wonder if he and Amy somehow end up together...*headdesk* No, must not jump to conclusions. Maybe it's just Lauren Brooke's way of showing that Amy's really going beyond the horizon - beyond Heartland to spread their work. But if it says anything about Ty and that...that...that...well, you know...*sigh*

Sigh, yes I do know. And I echo your thoughts completely! I don't know about how old the dude is, we'll have to wait and see. And yes, Always There was supposed to be the last, and should have been!

But, you know, while I was thinking (okay, and obsessing...and worrying...) about it last night, I thought of something hopeful
Maybe, just maybe, Lauren Brooke is really just trying to show that Amy's going beyond the horizon, like she wanted to. But maybe, just maybe, she will eventually wind up back at Heartland. And, and I admit that I'm hoping beyond hope, but maybe she and Ty will get married like we all want them to.
Because honestly, I think Lauren Brooke knows how much we're all vested in Amy and Ty. And I don't think she would be so cruel as to keep them apart forever. (especially if, out of curiosity, she ever gets on any sites like these!) It would have been silly of her to make them get together in the first place if she were going to do that to us!
So, I'm holding out some hope. Especially if this one is like the French ones, and we have several more to go. And I have to (grudgingly) admit, the cover for "A Summer to Remember" is beautiful...not that that really had anything to do with what I'm talking about, LOL.

I was just doing some more *cough* obsessing *cough cough* I mean, searching, on the French Amazon site, and with a little help of a bad Google translator, I have found more hope.
From what I could understand from the hopelessly tangled sentences, in book 29 of the French Heartland books, Ty falls back in love with Amy (well, they call them Ted and Laura, but whatever)...so maybe, just maybe, they'll end up back together. We can only hope and pray!

In reply to the first of those two posts rainpaint: Lol! Agreed, it is beautiful!
Again my thoughts are exactly the same as yours! Seriously, its scary how alike our thoughts on the subject of Heartland and the new books is. You are just much, much better at getting them out on paper, or, erm, uh, you know what I mean! lol!
But yeah, I've been thinking the same things. I'm really sad about how much the characters have been changed, but I am, and always have been, ok with the break up while Amy's at college. And I've always believed that Lauren Brooke will get them back together (and that Amy will come back to Heartland), but it is much more realistic for them to split and date other people with Amy away at college. It is very rare for a couple to stay together through the end of high school and college when one person is at college for that long. True it does happen, I personally know a couple who just got married a few months ago that have done that, and he's a doctor so they were at seperate colleges for a long time. But that sort of relationship is very, very rare and I do think its a good thing that Lauren Brooke is showing her readers that. Thats she's showing her readers that there are a lot of obsticals to over come when one person is away for so long at that age.
I also think Amy will come back to Heartland for good after college because its where she belongs and I don't think she really disputes that a huge amount. She may like taking Heartlands work else where but I don't think that she's really considering leaving Heartland for good.
I am still hopeful that Amy and Ty will be back to being the people they were before the special editions. And I do still trust that Lauren Brooke will make it all ok in the end. But we'll have to wait and see.

And Lol at the obsessing thing, I'm the same with it all!! I've done that translating the blurbs of the French books too!! And it all sounds pretty weird when you do cause the its a direct transtation so all the grammer is screwed up and the words probably mean slightly different things to the way they would if it was a proper translation. But it gves you the gist. And that is that they will get back together in the end.
But that said, the titles are a little different. Like Beyond the Horizon is the second of the French books after Always There, there is another book inbetween them in French, but I can't remember the title off the top of my head!
I'm just hoping that its all gonna get better. That Amy and Ty will go back to the people they were, or at the very least not get any more different! And that them getting back together is handled really well and is believeable.

I think that the thing I'm most worried about is that "A Summer to Remember" will mention something about Ty and that...that...other girl who stole one of my favorite names...like *shudders* Oh, it's too awful to even say, let alone think about.
'Cause seriously, I can't think about it. If I did, I'd go crazy.
But then, I think we're all a little crazy for being so emotionally invested in this book series. Sometimes I think I live (in my mind) in a horse farm nestled in the hills of Virginia.

Me too!! Agree on everything there! Just the idea of Ty being serious with...that other girl...is just so incredably wrong!! One of the things I find very hard about all this (ok, yes, there are a lot, but this is still a big one!) is that Ty is serious with this girl so very soon after finishing with Amy. I mean they split at Spring Break, and he starts seeing her roughly near the start of the summer break, so thats what, a couple months max? I find it hard to believe that as in love with Amy as he had been at the end of Always There, he had totaly gotten over her just being away from her for a few months while she's at college (despite telling her he'd wait for her!) and falls in love with another girl? I just don't believe there is anyway Amy and Ty's relationship was that fragile when Amy went to college, I don't believe they wouldn't have at least made it through her first year there and in to her second. I'm sorry if people disagree with me, but they have been through so much together, they have a much deeper relationship than most people their age have. Strong enough I believe to survive for longer than it did with Amy at college, or at least for them both to be way more upset about it and to take a while to move on.

Whoa...
And yet again, we echo each other's thoughts. You don't know how many times that exact thing has gone through my mind. I think, to me, Lauren Brooke is making what love they had for each other seem fake, frail, or insignificant. It's like this: Ty waited for a while to even let Amy know he liked her (well, at least one year; in A Holiday Memory we get the hint that he likes her), and he took it slow. And then all of a sudden, he breaks up with her, gets over it really fast, and can't live without another girlfriend? That's just not the Ty we know and (face it) love.

I know!! He liked her for the longest time before anything happened, and then when things start to happen he gives her the time she needs to adjust to the new feelings and everything. And yeah, that is exactly what Lauren Brooke seems to be making of the feelings they share and it is just very wrong given how she started it all. She made it a very serious, very deep relationship, then threw it away like it was just a fling.

Oh no.
Heaven help us.
It's here. It's come.
Seen at bookstore today, April 8: A Summer to Remember
Didn't read it. Could barely stand to pick it up. Sister read last page. It's bad, people. I don't know for sure what she saw, but it's an eleven on a scale of one to ten for horribleness.
WAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

Heh, heh, sorry for the scare. I'm sure you can understand my panic, though. After all, these are our favorite characters that Lauren Brooke is messing with!
So it's not so bad as I thought when I first heard about it. Yes, it's pretty horrendous what Lauren Brooke has done with our favorite series. I think she's stretching it a bit to show that Amy is going beyond the horizon.
I know how it ends, and as awful as the ending might be (as in, it may induce vomiting), I do think there's still hope. Lauren Brooke is just torturing us.
