okay guys so guess what? with eleven foals, my mother asked me to name one of them! and well im lazy and i cant think of good names so i thought hmm how about if i ask everyone at Sanctuary to submit one or two and i will pull like three or so from a hat and then my brothers and i can vote on it! or something like that, I dont know...so go ahead and please please (this is me, begging) please reply to this message with your name ideas... okay so I understand this can be hard without first seeing the horse or knowing anything about the horse but the thing is, i dont know much about the foal either becasue wouldnt you know, my mother told me to go ahead and name the UNBORN foal! So I need versitile names for both a colt and a filly because im not sure of the gender yet...you can submit your own name if you want the horse named after you (that would be kinda cool), you can submit show names (no promises that we will use these since a lot of the horses have prepicked names based on their parents but we are still open to suggestions!!!), your favorite names for a horse, dream names, etc.! please have fun with this, i know it can be hard to think of names when put on the spot, but some people *ahem, me* have a list of their favorite names pasted to their desk (okay thats embarrasing) so fire away! im totally open to whatever names you suggest, im going to make two piles, one of girl and one of guys and someone will choose it and then i will announce the name with a picture by like may or something...we'll see it depends on when the foal is born! so this is really exciting and I really want all of you to submit your names becasue well, it would just mean a lot to me that you guys are helping out! Wow, cool, thanks for asking for our help!
I think Lilly is a good name for a filly. Not sure about names for a colt but I'll probably post an idea or two tomorrow (later today I mean). It's 12.45 am here and I need sleep.

Wow! so I was looking back at this post and I realized that when I submitted the "reply" I guess I closed out of the box too soon becasue it didnt actually go through! (some days I wonder if there is much more in my head than air!)
My mom picked the name Caspian for the colt. Some of the names we've had in the past, so she didnt want to go for them (Lilly, Summer, and Jake) simply becasue it would have been confusing. We have used the name as his full name, so he is now Brookestone's Caspian Dream (his sire was Dreammaker - no, not the famous one) and his barn name is Caspian. He is a funny looking guy, with one brown eye and one blue! He has a sort of grulla coat happening right now, but his legs havent molted so we cant tell exactly what color he is going to be! Since he is a connemara, he will have to be gelded becasue the connemara association wont register him as a stallion with his eyes the way they are. We are going to train him to be a childrens pony, or perhaps a small adult! This is all very exciting for us, becasue usually the colts that are born are only here until they are weaned and then usually they go to another barn to be used for breeding, or in the rare case, we keep them for our breeding program, but in general, they are sold to be stallions at another barn. So having a colt here that we can work with and train and actually ride later will be great. I'm very excited to work with him as he gets older (he is only 6 weeks old right now) and my mom said we might not sell him until he is 6 or 7! Okay so this is a very long post, and I just wanted to let everyone know and thank you all soo much for helping pick Caspian's name!

My mom thinks he is so ugly that he is cute in that adorable feel-sorry for him way. She says hes not very aggressive, and she is constantly relating him to Seabiscuit! He is lazy and loves to put his head in your lap and stretch out like a dog, and chewing off buttons is his favorite thing to do besides sleeping. A few days ago I was sitting in the aisle and it was raining pretty hard so most of the horses were in their stalls, but we had him and his mom roaming in the aisles for some social time and he came up and basically plopped down next to me and put his head back in my lap and I haven't really had a foal do that in a very long time, mostly the foals want to be with their mothers for the first few months, but not Caspian. He was more that happy to be loved by humans. He is going to make some child very happy one day.

Ill post up pictures soon, but the problem is that they are all on my phone, and the professional ones havent gotten scanned in yet. Plus im really lazy and dont feel like taking the hour to find the cord for the connector thingy that allows me to download to my computer. I officially put him as the background on my phone. Its a picture of him with his head on my lap all curled up in front of me like some sort of dog. He looks really weird in the picture if you dont know what you are looking at. My mom has some good pictures on her phone, so I will load those as well in the near future.
