Ok so no doubt all of us riders have fallen at some point, and some in spectacular style no doubt. So share your funny/embaressing falls here. Remember though that injury (like a broken bone) tends to make a story decidedly less funny.
Ok so several years ago I was riding this sweet but mad 14hh bay pony called Benji. Now he didn't get ridden much by his owners so he spent time on loan at the riding school I was riding at back then. Now most people didn't like to ride him because he was a handful and crab walked all the way around the arena and lost his concentration after about 10 seconds (no joke). I however loved the challenge and therefore rode him in most of my lessons.
One such lesson he'd been going fairly well for him, but was pretty excitable. When we started jumping he started geting silly and I could barely make him stand still. When it was my turn, I asked him to trot and he exploded in to a canter and took off. He was too quick for the jump so I pulled on my right rein in to the middle of the school and to my surprise he did as I asked, sort of. I couldn't pull him up no matter what I tried and he ran just to the left of another jump wing in the middle of the school and I leant to the left to stop myself hitting it. Benji basically turned around the jump and bacause I was off balance coming round the wing, I came off, summersaulted in the air, and landed on my butt and laughed. My instructer was asked me about 3 or 4 times if I was ok because she thought I'd hit the jump wing and all I could do was nod trying to control my laughter. I have never ridden such a crazy horse who I knew would never deliberatly hurt me. He was just having fun and although that was infuriating when you were trying to get him to do something specific, you just had to laugh at his antics the rest of the time. After I hit the ground he came to a stop the other side of the arena to where we'd started and turned to look at me and shook him head before lifting it up and looking at me with ears pricked as if to say "What you doning down there?"
